Kids Against Hunger – Rock County Rotary, Inc. feeds hungry children and adults.  We’re a food relief program that’s hands-on!  A cooperative effort of the Beloit, Edgerton, Janesville Morning, and Janesville Noon Rotary Clubs, our mission is to eliminate hunger locally and eradicate starvation and malnutrition world-wide.  We accomplish this by bringing local people together, educating them about locally and international hunger problems and then having them actually package food for those in need.

Here’s the really great news!  You can make a difference.  Our food packets are nutritious and easy to prepare.  There are only four ingredients!  Each packet feeds 6 – 10 children, costs just $1.50 including international transportation, and has everything a body needs to be healthy.  We are partnering with local food banks and international Rotary Clubs to deliver food all over the world to prevent children from starving.

 

What can I do to help?  Almost all money donated goes towards purchasing food, supplies, and transportation so we can feed as many people as possible.  We have no paid staff.  Our location has been generously donated by the Hendricks Development Group.  We have applied for 501(3) (c) tax status.  We need volunteers to package food and prepare it for distribution.  It’s easy and FUN!  Scouts, neighbors, families, birthday parties, school and church groups and just about anyone else can volunteer.  People from age 5 to 105 can help.

What’s the impact?  We started packaging food on May 18, 2008, producing 18,144 meals that day alone.  We plan on packaging a minimum of 10,000 meals each month to help people in need.  Not only will our food benefit people in Rock County but internationally as well.  On only our 4^th day of operation, we sent 7,128 meals to Jinja, Uganda – Africa to benefit hungry orphans!
